These small electrically-lighted goddess images are wired directly into cars, most typically taxis, in India. I bought one in an auto parts store in Delhi in the winter of 2008 but only just recently got around to converting it for use with an AC adapter. It changes colour and flickers occasionally.
In a recent Twitter update, I said it was a Kali shrine; I'm afraid I was mistaken. As I understand it, it is a particular aspect of Durga -- but I don't know which one. The label on the box, now faded, was completely illegible.
